Illegal Bike Ride Lands Man in Jail with Ghost Gun and Drugs

NEW YORK, NY – Police arrested 27-year-old Delvin Gonzalez on October 14th after he was observed riding a bicycle illegally and subsequently found to be in possession of a ghost gun, fentanyl, and cocaine.

Officers Linnertz and Rich, while on routine patrol in the 100 block of Congress Avenue, attempted to stop Gonzalez for violating traffic laws. Gonzalez refused to stop and fled, eventually reaching a porch on Congress Avenue. During the chase, Gonzalez reached for his waistband, prompting caution from Officer Linnertz. Gonzalez was eventually subdued with a taser and taken into custody.

The officers discovered that Gonzalez was armed with a 9 mm P80 ghost gun, equipped with a light, laser, and a gold magazine extender loaded with eight rounds. A search of Gonzalez revealed $339 in cash, over 104 grams of fentanyl, roughly equivalent to 2684 individual doses, and 62 grams of cocaine, roughly equivalent to 628 individual doses.

Gonzalez was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment of a leg injury. He faces multiple charges including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third and Seventh Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, Menacing a Police Officer, along with a traffic violation for not having a headlight on his bicycle and a local law violation for riding a bicycle on the sidewalk.
