CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department had a busy day on Thursday, October 19, 2023, as officers served several warrants resulting in multiple arrests.

The first case saw the arrest of Logan Malachi O’Brien, 27, of Cumberland, MD, on a bench warrant following his failure to appear in court two days prior for an earlier charge of Driving on a Suspended License. O’Brien was processed at Central Booking, later released on personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

The second arrest involved Kevin Allen Mauck, 33, from Great Cacapon, WV, who was served an arrest warrant stemming from a traffic stop conducted on August 10, 2023, on Mechanic Street. During the stop, it was discovered that Mauck was driving on a revoked West Virginia license. He was charged with driving a motor vehicle on a highway without the required license, and driving a motor vehicle on a highway on a revoked out-of-state license. After being taken to Central Booking, Mauck was seen by a District Court Commissioner for his bond hearing and was released on personal recognizance.

The final incident on the same day occurred around 6:27 PM when officers responded to a disturbance on Canal Pl. Upon arrival, they encountered Araya Plauger, who had an active bench warrant due to probation violation from an original charge of CDS: Possess-Not Marijuana.

Further investigation revealed Plauger was in possession of suspected methamphetamine at the time. She was arrested, charged with CDS: Possess-Not Cannabis, and, after a visit to Central Booking, was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $100 bond by a District Court Commissioner.
