NEW CITY, NY – A 24-year-old New York City resident, Dylan Choe, entered a guilty plea for distributing obscene material to minors, in an attempt to arrange a meeting with a minor, as declared by Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II.
In the onset of 2023, Choe initiated an online interaction on a social platform with an undercover agent from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, who portrayed a thirteen-year-old girl from the same county. Unaware of the investigator’s real identity, Choe indulged in explicit conversation and proceeded to schedule a meeting at a hotel in Rockland County.
Choe’s anticipation turned to dismay on January 19, 2023, when he arrived at the arranged Rockland hotel, only to be apprehended and charged for circulating indecent materials to minors.
District Attorney Tom Walsh expressed a firm resolve, stating that their office is staunchly dedicated to safeguarding the innocence of the community’s youth. This case serves as a stern reminder that malicious intent towards minors will be pursued vigorously and punished accordingly.
This conviction is a part of an enduring initiative against cybercrime, spearheaded by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office since 2022.
A related endeavor in the previous December led to the detainment of seven individuals for sexual offenses under “Operation Catfish”.
