Clifton Resident Sentenced to Seven Years for Child Endangerment

A Clifton man is going to prison for endangering a child. The specific details of the case were not made known at this time.

On October 17, Clifton resident Wilfredo Guardia, 65, was sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison for endangering the welfare of a seventeen-year-old child under his care. The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Marilyn C. Clark, J.S.C.

The case stemmed from an arrest made on May 12, 2022, following an investigation carried out by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Clifton Police Department, and Passaic County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Guardia pleaded guilty to one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child on June 7, 2023, admitting to engaging in sexual conduct with the minor on multiple occasions at a residence in Clifton.

Upon his release from prison, Mr. Guardia will be placed under Parole Supervision for Life and will be required to register under Megan’s Law, as announced by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.
