A reported kidnapping in Germantown involving a 13-year-old girl has been determined to be unfounded, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigation Division. On October 17, the girl had claimed she was kidnapped between 3 to 3:15 p.m. by two male suspects described as Hispanic and Black. She stated that the suspects forced her into a dark sedan.

The girl further reported that she managed to escape from the vehicle and was later found by a resident. She was then transported to an area hospital for evaluation by Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel. “Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined that the report was unfounded,” said the police in an official statement released today.

The Montgomery County Department of Police emphasized that there is no threat to the community or the safety of children stemming from this case. The investigation concluded that the alleged kidnapping did not occur.

Law enforcement officials are reassuring the public that community safety remains a priority and are encouraging residents to remain vigilant while also critically evaluating news and reports.

“There is no threat to the community or to the safety of children,” the police statement affirmed.
