SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Timothy J. Feldman, born January 12, 2001, pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a Class D felony under New York State Penal Law § 265.02(3).
The plea is connected to Feldman’s July 2023 arrest for carrying a loaded “ghost gun” in downtown Saratoga Springs. Saratoga County District Attorney Karen A. Heggen made the announcement today.
The arrest occurred when Feldman tried to enter a local bar on Caroline Street in the early-morning hours of July 23, 2023. A bouncer at the establishment discovered the firearm on Feldman’s person and immediately alerted nearby officers from the Saratoga Springs Police Department. Feldman, a former Schoharie County Corrections Officer, was quickly apprehended, and the firearm was seized.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the weapon did not have a valid serial number, making it an illegal “ghost gun.” Feldman later admitted that he had assembled the weapon himself from components purchased online and that he did not possess a valid pistol permit.
Scheduled for sentencing on January 8, 2024, Feldman faces two to six years in state prison. He has also waived his right to appeal and has surrendered the firearm for destruction.
“This is yet another example of hardworking Caroline Street business owners working alongside the Saratoga Springs Police Department to confront our city’s ongoing issues with loaded firearms downtown,” said DA Heggen.
