WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A shooting incident that occurred on East 23rd Street is currently under investigation by the Winston-Salem Police Department. The episode unfolded on Friday night at around 10:24 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 1200 block, where they discovered two injured women.
Upon arrival, police found that both women had sustained gunshot wounds, with one in critical condition who was transported to the hospital and the other treated on-site for minor injuries. Their names and further details have been withheld due to privacy and security concerns.
The WSPD’s Criminal Investigations Division assumed the investigation, processing the scene for evidence and possible leads regarding the assailant.
