Frederick Teen Arrested for Possession of AR-15 Style Rifle, Ammo Found in Bedroom

FREDERICK, MD – On Monday, the Major Crimes Unit and Special Response Team of the Frederick Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at a residence on the 5900 block of Jefferson Commons Way. The action was part of an ongoing armed robbery investigation that dates back to July of this year.

During the search, detectives discovered an unregistered AR-15 style pistol in the bedroom of a 16-year-old suspect. According to a press release from the Frederick Police Department, the teen now “faces charges under two Maryland statutes: Possession of a Regulated Firearm by a Minor and Possession of a Firearm without a Serial Number.”

The operation highlights the continued efforts by Frederick Police to crack down on violent crime in the area. The department lauded the “awesome work by our detectives and officers” in successfully conducting the search and seizure, which has led to pressing charges against the minor involved.
