Four Inmates, Including One Facing Murder Charges, Escape Georgia Jail

MACON, GA – Authorities are in search of four men who escaped a central Georgia jail in the early hours of Monday. Bibb County Sheriff David Davis identified the escapees as Joey Fournier, Marc Kerry Anderson, Johnifer Dernard Barnwell, and Chavis Demaryo Stokes, one of whom is facing a murder charge.

According to Sheriff Davis, jail staff noticed a breach in the perimeter fence at approximately 6 a.m. Monday. Upon reviewing video surveillance, they determined that the four inmates escaped around 3:30 a.m. via a window in a second-floor dayroom before making their way through the compromised fence.

During a Monday news conference, Sheriff Davis stated, “They could be anywhere,” indicating the urgent nature of the ongoing search. The sheriff also noted that there’s no evidence to suggest that the men had known each other prior to their time in jail or if they remained together following their escape.

The investigation is also focusing on a blue Dodge Challenger seen on video footage near the jail earlier in the night. The vehicle appeared to be involved in tampering with the fence, raising questions about possible outside assistance in the escape. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as they intensify their manhunt for the four fugitives.
