LARGO, FL – A 52-year-old Florida man, Gregory Baksis, was arrested and charged with battery on a person 65 years or older, a third-degree felony, after allegedly abusing his 103-year-old grandmother, Cecilia Baksis. Police responded to a noise complaint at the Largo residence the pair share and found that Baksis had bruising on her arms.
The centenarian reported that her grandson would routinely enter her room around 4 AM, verbally abuse her, and attempt to wake her.
Cecilia further alleged that Gregory, who stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 237 pounds, would “slap her about her face” and “grab her by the head and shake her.
She also claimed that he removed her mattress and “pushed her onto the boxspring,” causing her pain.
During police questioning, Gregory denied the allegations of physical abuse but did admit to trying to wake his grandmother early in the morning, stating it was in retaliation for her waking him early. He claimed to have only grabbed Cecilia by the arms and sat her down on the boxspring, asserting that he was removing the mattress to wash the sheets.
Authorities noted an “indication of alcohol influence” in Gregory upon their arrival. While no visible marks were found on Cecilia’s face or back, police confirmed bruising on both of her arms near the elbow area.
