Felon Wanted for Murder Stopped by Border Patrol Officers

HIDALGO, Texas, October 13, 2023 — In a collaborative effort between U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Mexican authorities, a significant apprehension took place at the Hidalgo International Bridge. Danny Lee Cazares, a 21-year-old male U.S. citizen from Alamo, Texas, was taken into custody.

Cazares had been sought on an outstanding felony warrant for homicide, highlighting the crucial role of law enforcement cooperation in apprehending wanted individuals.

Port Director Carlos Rodriguez of the Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas stated, “CBP works with our partner law enforcement agencies and collaborates with Mexican authorities to ensure wanted individuals have their day in court.” This joint effort underscores the commitment of these agencies to bringing individuals with outstanding warrants to justice.

On October 12, Mexican authorities escorted Danny Lee Cazares to the Hidalgo International Bridge, where U.S. Marshals and Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies were awaiting his arrival.

CBP officers provided critical assistance in receiving this wanted individual. Through biometric verification, Cazares’s identity was confirmed, along with the presence of an active arrest warrant from U.S. Marshals and Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office. Cazares stands accused of attempted capital murder of multiple persons, a first-degree felony in the State of Texas.
