Toms River Reschedules Trick-or-Treating for 84th Annual Halloween Parade

Toms River, NJ — The 84th annual Toms River Fire Co. #1 Halloween parade is set to take place on Tuesday, October 31. However, due to the parade coinciding with Halloween, township officials have rescheduled traditional trick-or-treating activities to Monday, October 30. The decision was made in collaboration between the Township, Toms River Fire Companies, and the Toms River Police Department, aiming to enable families to enjoy both the parade and trick-or-treating.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., kicking off at Highland Parkway and Main Street. It will continue south on Rt. 166 before making a turn onto Washington Street. Registration for the parade will only be available on the day of the event, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Henry Runco Firehouse on Robbins Street. New divisions have been introduced this year, including specific regulations such as a ban on walking participants in motorized divisions and prohibiting items from being tossed from motorized vehicles.

Police Chief Mitch Little stressed the importance of safety during the upcoming trick-or-treating activities. “Motorists are advised to be especially cautious on October 30, keeping an eye out for children who might inadvertently enter the road,” said Chief Little. He further encouraged parents to accompany their young children, use flashlights, stick to sidewalks, and only approach well-lit houses for treats.

While no official curfew has been announced, trick-or-treaters are expected to clear the streets by 9:00 p.m. Spectators planning to set up chairs for the parade can do so on the morning of the event, as long as they are securely placed to avoid any hazards.

Chief Little concluded his remarks by saying, “The Toms River Police Department wishes everyone a safe and Happy Halloween!” As preparations for the parade and trick-or-treating go into full swing, the community looks forward to celebrating both events in a safe and enjoyable manner.
