Fed Charges Menendez as Egyptian Agent as Case Grows Even More Bizarre
U.S. Senator Robert Menendez appears in court for a hearing on bribery charges

TRENTON, NJ – Federal prosecutors have levied new charges against Senator Bob Menendez, accusing him of conspiring to act as a foreign agent for the Egyptian government.

This comes shortly after Menendez was charged with bribery and corruption a few weeks ago. In response to the latest developments, Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco has issued a statement calling for Menendez’s immediate resignation from the U.S. Senate.

“The allegations centered around Senator Menendez‘s actions get more bizarre with each passing day as additional allegations unfold in this matter,” Bucco said. He continued, “In light of these new charges, members of both sides of the aisle should demand that he immediately step down as a United States Senator.”

While Bucco acknowledged the principle of presumption of innocence, he emphasized that the severity of the allegations warrants immediate action. “Anyone who is accused of a crime has a presumption of innocence, but his alleged conduct is very troubling and certainly unbecoming of a public servant,” Bucco stated.

The new indictment raises questions about Senator Menendez’s ability to perform his duties effectively. “It is now perfectly clear that his ability to perform his duties as a United States Senator has been compromised. The residents of the State deserve better,” Bucco asserted in his statement.

The unfolding saga around Senator Menendez has captured national attention, particularly given the gravity of the charges that have been brought against him. As further investigations continue, both sides of the political aisle are under increasing pressure to address the situation.
