Early Morning Shooting in Ithaca Leaves One Dead

ITHACA, NY – A fatal shooting occurred early Thursday morning in the City of Ithaca.

Officers arrived at the intersection of North Plain Street and West Seneca Street around 3:45 a.m. following reports of gunshots.

The deceased, identified as Ernest Lankford, 45, of Ithaca, was discovered with evident gunshot wounds.

The Ithaca Police Department has stated that the homicide does not seem to be a random act, although no suspects have been named yet.

The investigation is still in progress, and the Ithaca Police Department is asking anyone with relevant information to come forward.
