SOMERVILLE, N.J. – Miguel A. Melchor-Gomez has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including five counts of second-degree attempted endangering the welfare of a child and four counts of third-degree invasion of privacy, following a series of incidents at the Circle Convenience Store, 53 Stirling Road, Watchung, New Jersey.

The charges stem from numerous instances between December 2021 and August 19, where Melchor-Gomez used his cellular telephone to surreptitiously record videos underneath the clothing of unsuspecting female victims.

The investigation revealed that Melchor-Gomez, who worked as a cashier at the store, used two primary methods to film underneath his victims’ clothing, all of which occurred inside the convenience store.

The majority of the victims are adults, but several are under 18. A forensic examination of Melchor-Gomez’s phone, seized following his arrest, has been conducted. Currently, there is no evidence that the videos were shared or disseminated.

Melchor-Gomez is currently detained following the State filing a motion for pretrial detention, which was granted by the Hon. Julie M. Marino, J.S.C.
