WALDEN, NY – Anthony Jones, 26, of Walden, was sentenced to the maximum permitted sentence of five to fifteen years in prison for his conviction of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, and six years in prison for his conviction of Assault in the Second Degree on Wednesday. The sentences will run concurrently.
On August 4, 2021, Jones, while driving a Ford Escape, engaged in a road rage incident with a van carrying eight people on State Route 17 in the town of Wallkill.
The resulting collision caused the deaths of three van occupants and serious injuries to four others. Jones was treated for pain and released from a local hospital.
An investigation by the New York State Police and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office concluded that Jones’s reckless and negligent actions caused the collision.
He was arrested on September 12, 2022, and found guilty of all counts against him in August after a jury trial.
