NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department is seeking public assistance in identifying an individual connected to a series of assaults.
On Thursday, October 5, three incidents were reported involving an unknown male assaulting passengers with a piece of wood from a moving “R” train.
In the first incident at approximately 12:30 pm, a 59-year-old woman was struck in the throat while waiting at the Grand Avenue station. She sustained minor injuries and was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst in stable condition.
Ten minutes later, two males at Elmhurst Avenue station were targeted, though no injuries were reported. At 12:42 pm, a 56-year-old woman at Jackson Heights Roosevelt Avenue station was hit in the head, requiring stitches for lacerations at NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst.
The suspect, described as a male with medium complexion and an afro, was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants, and an orange backpack. Anyone with information is asked to contact the NYPD.
