LINTHICUM HEIGHTS, MD – An incident involving an assault and an attempted carjacking was reported on Monday, at approximately 11:30 a.m. at Motel 6, located at 5179 Raynor Avenue.Officers responding to the scene were informed that a white male suspect had become aggressive with a hotel clerk over dissatisfaction with his hotel room.
The clerk, fearing an impending attack, pepper-sprayed the suspect, who then exited the hotel. He returned shortly after, brandishing a handgun and pointing it at the clerk. The suspect subsequently exited the hotel again and approached a 26-year-old male seated in a Ford F150 on the 800 block of Hammonds Ferry Road.
Entering the passenger side of the vehicle, the suspect displayed the handgun and ordered the victim out of the vehicle. Unable to operate the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot.
Officers, responding to the incident, initiated a traffic stop on a Black Kia SUV seen speeding on Raynor Avenue. The passenger, fleeing on foot, was apprehended and identified as the suspect in both the assault and attempted carjacking.
Joshua William Martin, a 26-year-old with no fixed address, was arrested and charged in connection with the incidents.
