Video Footage Leads to Arrest in D.C. Bus Stop Assault and Robbery

WASHINGTON, D.C. – An arrest has been made in connection with a violent robbery that occurred early Saturday morning at a Northwest, D.C. bus stop.

At approximately 6:50 a.m., the victim was waiting at the intersection of 7th Street and H Street when the suspect demanded they vacate the area. When the victim refused, the suspect violently assaulted them while an accomplice took items from the victim’s pockets. The entire event was captured on video.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Kevin Joseph Vaughn from Southeast, D.C. First District Detectives found that Vaughn was already arrested for Theft II just hours after the robbery took place. Based on the new evidence, detectives additionally charged him with Robbery, Force & Violence. The investigation is ongoing.
