BROOKLYN, NY – Detectives in Brooklyn are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning, resulting in the death of a 34-year-old man. The incident took place in front of a brownstone at 68 Lafayette Ave. in Fort Greene around 2:12 a.m.
Initial findings indicate that the victim was socializing with a group outside the brownstone when an unidentified individual approached and began firing a weapon.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the neck. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and it has not been determined if the victim was specifically targeted.
Officers responding to a 911 call, found the injured man at the location. Emergency services transported him to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim’s identity is being withheld until family members are notified.
As of Saturday morning, no description of the shooter was available, and no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
