PITTSBURGH, PA – Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus confirmed the arrest of a Penn Hills man, Dayon Caldwell, for a probation violation stemming from a 2020 aggravated assault case.

Dayon Caldwell, 25, had previously pleaded guilty in 2020 to charges of aggravated assault, among others, in a case lodged by the Penn Hills Police Department. Subsequent to his plea, he was sentenced to a 5-year probationary period.

However, in a turn of events last month, Caldwell faced fresh charges. The Allegheny County Housing Authority Police charged him with aggravated assault and additional counts. These charges were based on a domestic altercation that had transpired between Caldwell and the mother of his child on Groveton Drive, Robinson Township.

The officers who arrived at the scene reported multiple injuries on the victim. As a consequence of these recent charges, a bench warrant was promptly issued, citing a probation violation related to Caldwell’s 2020 case.

In a recent development this week, detectives from Sheriff Kraus’s office obtained intelligence suggesting that Caldwell was at the residence of the latest assault’s victim. When detectives reached the Groveton Drive home earlier today, they were initially misled to believe that Caldwell wasn’t there. However, a thorough search of the premises revealed Caldwell hiding in an upstairs bedroom.
