CLIFTON, NJ – A Clifton resident, Esmond Nimblett, has been charged with several serious offenses following an extensive investigation by Bergen County authorities.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella confirmed the arrest, detailing charges against Nimblett that include sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and aggravated criminal sexual contact. Both the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, led by Chief Jason Love, and the Englewood Police Department, led by Chief Thomas Greeley, were instrumental in the investigation.
The investigation began with the arrest of Nimblett on Thursday, August 3, after evidence emerged suggesting his involvement in the sexual assault of a child aged between 13 and 16. As authorities delved deeper, an additional victim was discovered by August 17. This led to the revelation that Nimblett had allegedly assaulted a minor, within the same age bracket, on multiple occasions in Englewood.
By October 5, authorities apprehended Nimblett in Hackensack, NJ. The formal charges against him comprise four counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of fourth-degree aggravated sexual contact. Following his arrest, Nimblett was placed in the custody of the Bergen County Jail. He awaits his preliminary hearing at the Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
