New Jersey Teen Among Two Arrested for Armed Carjacking in Delaware

WILMINGTON, DE – Two 16-year-old males, one from Claymont, Delaware, and the other from Penns Grove, New Jersey, have been apprehended by Delaware State Police in connection with an armed carjacking that transpired in Wilmington.

The incident took place on October 4, at roughly 5:00 a.m. at the Dunkin’ situated at 301 North Maryland Avenue. A 50-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, reported being accosted by two individuals as he exited the establishment. Having previously spotted the duo at The Reserve at Mill Creek Apartments complex parking area, he promptly recognized them. The assailant from Claymont unveiled a black handgun, prompting the victim to relinquish his vehicle keys. No injuries were reported, and the duo sped off in the victim’s 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. The car was subsequently found nearby.

Subsequent investigations led officers to discern the apparel of the perpetrators. Later that day, while surveying The Reserve at Mill Creek Apartments, detectives observed four males with ski masks, one of whom donned attire consistent with the earlier incident.

Shortly thereafter, at 2:58 p.m., another carjacking was reported in proximity, at 1115 Coyne Place, implicating suspects bearing resemblances to those spotted by state detectives.
