In Asheville, Jaden Isaiah Garay, 24, faces a four-count criminal indictment following an attempt on the life of a U.S. Postal Service Rural Mail Carrier. Garay is charged with attempted murder, carjacking, assault on the mail carrier, and use of a firearm during a crime of violence.
The indictment alleges that in Madison County, Garay tried to kill a postal worker identified as T.R. He is also accused of carjacking T.R.’s vehicle, assaulting her during her official duties, and threatening her life with a dangerous weapon. The weapon in question, a 9mm semiautomatic pistol, was reportedly discharged during the alleged attempted murder and carjacking incidents.
Currently, Garay is in Madison County Sheriff’s Office custody. A federal arrest warrant requires him to appear in Asheville federal court for the stated charges.
It is important to note that the charges against Garay are allegations. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
