Man Charged for May Death of Two-Year-Old Nychelle Pettus

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD – The Homicide Unit of the Prince George’s County Police has detained 38-year-old Kevin Robinson of District Heights in connection to the murder of a toddler, two-year-old Nychelle Pettus.

Robinson, who is romantically involved with the toddler’s mother, resided with them in the same house in District Heights.

The incident took place on May 27, 2023, when around 10:50 pm, authorities were alerted to a residence in the 2100 block of County Road in the unincorporated area of District Heights.

Upon their arrival, the young victim was discovered unresponsive and was subsequently declared dead at the scene. As of September 29, 2023, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has classified Nychelle Pettus’s death as a homicide, determining that traumatic head injuries were the cause of her demise. Kevin Robinson was arrested by Homicide Unit detectives on October 3rd.

Early findings from the investigation point towards Robinson having exclusive care and responsibility for the young victim at the time her fatal injuries took place.

He is currently facing charges of second-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, among other related offenses. Presently, Robinson is held in the Department of Corrections.
