MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the arrest of Christopher Angst, 48, of Long Valley, and Michael McFadden, 54, of New Milford, on charges related to alleged insurance fraud. The case stems from a referral from the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor.
Christopher Angst is the owner of C&E Professional Painting LLC in Long Valley. Michael McFadden is an insurance agent with Insuranze Associates located in Hasbrouck Heights. Investigation disclosed that McFadden allegedly created false documents indicating that Angst had workman’s comp insurance, which he did not have. Angst is accused of presenting these false documents to a client, who then unknowingly submitted them to an insurance carrier. It is also alleged that Angst gave McFadden a gold Police Benevolent Association card in exchange for the fraudulent documents.
Angst faces multiple charges including fourth degree Falsifying/Tampering with Records, third degree Insurance Fraud, fourth degree Failure to Provide Worker’s Comp, fourth degree Forgery, and third degree Conspiracy to Commit Insurance Fraud. McFadden has been charged with fourth degree Falsifying, third degree Insurance Fraud, fourth degree Hindering, fourth degree Forgery, and third degree Conspiracy to Commit Insurance Fraud.
The charges against McFadden were filed by summons on September 27, while Angst was charged by summons on September 28. Angst is currently employed as an officer with the Montclair University Police Department.
