JESSUP, MD – Two fortunate Powerball ticket purchasers in Maryland may have not won the jackpot, but they are certainly not walking away empty-handed. In the Oct. 2 drawing, a ticket worth $100,000 was sold in Howard County while another ticket in Prince George’s County is valued at $50,000.
The $100,000 ticket was acquired at Crestmount Wine & Spirits at 7968 Washington Boulevard in Jessup. The decision to include the Power Play feature resulted in the prize amount being doubled from its original $50,000 value.
Meanwhile, the $50,000 ticket found its buyer at Bowie Exxon, situated at 1500 Northwest Crain Highway in Bowie. With these latest wins, Maryland has recorded the sale of 54 third-tier winning Powerball tickets this year.
For those curious about the winning numbers from the Oct. 2 drawing, they were 12, 26, 27, 43, and 47. The Powerball number was 5, and the Power Play multiplier stood at X2. Overall, Maryland reported 57,320 winners in various prize categories from $4 to $100,000 in this particular drawing.
The continuous absence of a jackpot winner means that the Powerball jackpot is still up for grabs. The upcoming drawing on Oct. 4 boasts an estimated annuity of $1.2 billion, with a cash value of $551.7 million. Notably, this positions the prize as the third-largest in Powerball’s chronicle and the seventh-largest in U.S. lottery history. The jackpot has been elusive for 33 consecutive drawings since it last went to a California player in July.
