BROOKLYN, NY – Keith Brannon, a 55-year-old Brooklyn resident, has been sentenced by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice John Hecht to 30 years to life in prison.
The sentence follows Brannon’s conviction for the fatal shooting of Christopher Tennison, 32, outside a Brownsville homeless shelter in 2015 during a money-related dispute. The conviction was reached on September 14, following a retrial.
Evidence suggests that Brannon attempted to rob Tennison before shooting him in the chest. Texts prior to the incident showed Brannon demanding money from the victim. The murder weapon, discovered under Brannon’s bed in a Bronx shelter, was linked to him through DNA and ballistics.
Although Brannon was previously convicted in 2017, a judicial error led to the case’s reversal on appeal.
Ahead of the retrial, an essential witness residing in Poland was brought to the U.S. with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez expressed his gratitude for the collaborative effort that led to the conviction.
