Washington, D.C. – Tragedy struck the Southeast district of Washington, D.C., last night as a 22-year-old man lost his life to a fatal shooting. Authorities from the Washington D.C. Metro Police Department have launched an investigation into the incident.
The incident unfolded at approximately 8:31 p.m. when law enforcement officers were alerted to the sound of gunfire at the 4400 block of 3rd Street. At the scene, officers discovered a man who had sustained gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the victim died a short time later.
The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Vashawn Jones, a resident of Southeast, D.C.
