U.S. President Joe Biden has announced the formation of a new government agency whose sole purpose is to push the President’s anti-gun legislation and to restrict gun ownership in America.

He made that clear in a speech, saying that if your local congressmen and senators don’t want to join the fight against guns, elect new ones.

During a mostly indecipherable speech at the White House this week, one thing was clear, Joe Biden is coming for your guns and he is asking his supporters to take the fight to the voting booths in November. One of the goals of the new White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention is to ‘strengthen a coalition of partners, states and cities across the U.S. to strengthen laws’.

Biden spoke about reducing gun violence and taking guns out of the hands of Americans like his son, Hunter Biden, who is facing a federal gun charge after lying on his gun application about his substance abuse problem. Later, Biden’s gun was found in a garbage can, abandoned behind a Delaware Deli.

In a groundbreaking move, President Joe Biden announced the creation of the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. The Office aims to reduce the rampant gun violence that has deeply affected communities across the United States. Vice President Kamala Harris will oversee the Office, reinforcing her role as a key leader in the administration’s initiatives to address gun violence.

Stefanie Feldman, a long-time policy advisor to President Biden on gun violence prevention, will serve as the Director of the new Office. She will be supported by Deputy Directors Greg Jackson and Rob Wilcox, both of whom are leading advocates in gun violence prevention.

President Biden’s Statement

In a statement, President Biden underscored the urgent need for action, saying, “Every time I’ve met with families impacted by gun violence as they mourn their loved ones, they all have the same message for their elected officials: ‘do something.’ It’s why, last year, I signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to keep guns out of dangerous hands and have taken more executive action than any President in history to keep communities safe.”

President Biden also outlined the purpose of the new Office: “That’s why I’m announcing additional steps forward, with the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, overseen by Vice President Harris, to build upon these measures and keep Americans safe.”

Vice President Harris’s Statement

In her statement, Vice President Harris emphasized the role of the Office in implementing broad-ranging efforts to reduce gun violence. She stated, “Every person and every child deserves the opportunity to fulfill their dreams and live up to their God-given potential. This epidemic of gun violence requires urgent leadership to end the fear and trauma that Americans experience every day.”

Next Steps and Legislative Goals

While President Biden will continue to urge Congress to enact universal background checks, and bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, the Office of Gun Violence Prevention will focus on immediate and achievable executive actions. Both the President and Vice President highlighted the Office’s commitment to working not just with Congress but also with state and local leaders and advocates to make substantial progress in gun violence prevention.

As gun violence continues to take a devastating toll on communities across the U.S., the establishment of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to curb this ongoing crisis. With dedicated leadership and a focused agenda, the Office aims to implement strategies that can save lives and build safer communities.
