23-Year-Old Killed in Capitol Heights Hit and Run

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD – Maryland State Police are actively searching for the driver of a Mini-Cooper believed to be involved in a fatal hit and run incident in Prince George’s County.

The incident occurred early in the morning on Saturday, on the southbound side of I-495 near Ritchie Marlboro Road.

The deceased has been identified as Stephen Marquel Thompson, 23, of Washington, D.C. Emergency responders from the Prince George’s County Fire Department pronounced Thompson dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings suggest that Thompson was walking in lane 3 of I-495 when he was struck by the vehicle. The Mini Cooper, believed to be a model from between 2009 and 2014, likely has damage to its right front-end.
