MINEOLA, NY – Michael DeAngelo, 32, from Lindenhurst, was arraigned on Friday on multiple charges, including four counts of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, following an August crash in East Massapequa. The crash resulted in the deaths of four family members and injured two others.
On August 6, at around 7:15 p.m., Patrice Huntley, 60, was at a traffic light on Sunrise Highway when DeAngelo, allegedly under the influence of fentanyl and cocaine, crashed into Huntley’s vehicle.
The impact was so severe that Huntley’s SUV was pushed through the intersection. Huntley, along with his son Jeremiah, daughter Hannah, and step-granddaughter Chantel Solomon, were killed in the crash.
Data from DeAngelo’s vehicle indicated he was driving at approximately 120 miles per hour moments before the collision. Huntley, a Marine veteran, had been celebrating a recent job offer with his family.
DeAngelo showed signs of drug use, and drug paraphernalia was found in his vehicle. He was arrested on August 11, and if convicted, faces up to 25 years in prison.
