PITTSBURGH, PA – Maurice Brooks, 36, of Farrell, Pennsylvania, has been convicted of fentanyl and cocaine trafficking offenses, according to United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.
Brooks pled guilty to two charges: (1) distributing fentanyl on May 2, 2022, and (2) possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine on June 2, 2022. Sentencing is scheduled for January 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. before United States District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller is responsible for the prosecution. The investigation leading to Brooks’ conviction was conducted by the Mercer County Drug Task Force, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
The case is a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence, and improving neighborhood safety. PSN has recently been strengthened by a Department of Justice violent crime reduction strategy launched on May 26, 2021.
