Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is still polling in most national presidential polls at 2%, including a recent Quinnipiac poll. In that poll, Trump is leading the pack with 62% of Republican voters.
This week, on Twitter (x), Christie continued his assaults on the former President. So far, those personal attacks have failed to move the needle on his campaign.
“We have the greatest democracy the world has ever seen, and Trump whining about some simple questions from the press about his policies and conduct doesn’t change that one bit. Trump is a coward,” Christie said. “If you can’t handle the debate stage or a few tough questions, how can you be trusted to handle what comes across the desk in the Oval Office?”
This comes after the former president called his obese opponent, ‘a fat pig’, indirectly.
At a campaign rally, Trump told a supporter not to call the former governor names.
“Sir, please do not call him a fat pig. I’m trying to be nice. Don’t call him a fat pig,” Trump said. “You can’t do that.”
The president joked about Christie’s weight.
“Christie, he’s eating right now,” Trump joked. “He can’t be bothered.”
