D.C. Police Search for Escaped Fugitive Wanted for Murder

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The search for Christopher Haynes has been ramped up by the Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department, with the reward for information leading to his capture now standing at $30,000.

Haynes had been apprehended for the murder of Brent Hayward before escaping police custody during a hospital visit.

On September 6th, Haynes was detained in Manassas, Virginia, and transferred to D.C. During his processing, he complained of ankle pain and was taken to The George Washington University Hospital. Haynes attacked an officer and escaped from the hospital with one handcuff remaining on his right wrist. Despite immediate pursuit by both officers, they could not apprehend him.
