Man Gets 7 Years For Stabbing Man Over Parking Spot

QUEENS, NY – Anthony Thomas, 60, of Mentone Avenue in Laurelton, was sentenced on Thursday to seven years in prison for a stabbing incident that occurred over a parking spot. The incident took place on May 23, 2021, at approximately 5 p.m. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced the sentencing, which was handed down by Queens Supreme Court Justice Toni Cimino.

Gregory Williams, 49, parked his car in front of Thomas’ home after moving traffic cones that Thomas had set up to reserve the space. Despite a friend of Williams moving the car to resolve the dispute, Thomas stabbed Williams multiple times in the chest, abdomen, and arm.

Williams suffered massive internal injuries, a collapsed lung, and other wounds.

Thomas pleaded guilty to assault in the first degree on May 10 and was sentenced to seven years in prison and five years post-release supervision. The knife used in the attack was later found in Thomas’ dishwasher.

The Queens District Attorney emphasized that no one owns a public parking space, even in front of their own home. Thomas’ actions were described as an escalation that will not be tolerated.
