LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Lacey Township Police Department has identified the pilot killed in a weekend plane crash that sparked an 831-acre wildfire.
An investigation into the airplane crash near Robert J. Miller Airpark has led to the identification of the pilot as Oscar Molina, 61, of Long Branch, NJ.
The Lacey Township Police Department collaborated with investigative authorities to confirm Molina’s identity. The family has been formally notified and condolences have been expressed by local law enforcement.
At 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service reported it had reached 100 percent containment of an 831-acre wildfire in the area of Miller Airpark in Lacey Twp.
The fire area included property managed by Ocean County and the Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board continue to investigate the crash. Inquiries should be directed to these agencies.
