Additionally, a High Rip Current Risk is in effect through Monday evening. The risk area includes Delaware beaches and certain areas in New Jersey. Rip currents pose a serious threat, capable of pulling even experienced swimmers away from the shore.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: It is advised to swim near a lifeguard and take caution while in the water. If caught in a rip current, do not swim against it. Instead, relax and float. If possible, swim parallel to the shore. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook is in place for the Atlantic coastal portions of Sussex County in Delaware. There is a moderate risk of rip currents today and through the next week. For more information on potential weather hazards, please consult the National Weather Service.
