HARTLY, DELAWARE – A road rage incident in Hartly on Saturday evening ended in a fatal shooting, leading to the arrest of 27-year-old Joel Reynoso of Henderson, Maryland.
The Delaware State Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 2400 block of Halltown Road around 6:22 p.m. Upon arrival, troopers found two vehicles stopped in the westbound lane and a 53-year-old man from Marydel, Delaware, lying on the road with a gunshot injury.
Despite attempts at lifesaving measures by both troopers and civilians, the man was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. His identity has been withheld pending family notification.
The investigation revealed that Reynoso was driving a blue 1998 Nissan Frontier in an aggressive manner when he almost collided with a burgundy 2020 Dodge Durango, operated by the victim.
The victim passed Reynoso’s vehicle and then stopped, resulting in a physical altercation between the two men. Witnesses intervened to separate them. As the victim went to retrieve his baseball hat from near Reynoso’s vehicle, Reynoso fired a single round, striking him in the torso. Reynoso was arrested without incident.
A black handgun, found on the Nissan’s dashboard, was later identified as stolen from Florida’s Orange County Sheriff’s Office in 2015. Further inquiries showed Reynoso is prohibited from possessing a deadly weapon.
Reynoso faces multiple charges, including:
