MINEOLA, N.Y. – Tyshaun Johashen, 32, pleaded guilty on Wednesday before Judge Robert Bogle to charges including aggravated vehicular homicide and assault in the second degree.
The incident, which occurred on March 1, resulted in the death of 24-year-old Mia Pollidore.
According to the charges, Pollidore was crossing the street when she was struck by Johashen, who was highly intoxicated and speeding at the time.
Pollidore was pronounced deceased at the scene, and Johashen was arrested by the Nassau County and Freeport Police Departments.
Johashen is due back for sentencing on October 13. His blood alcohol content was measured at .24, three times the legal limit, more than three hours after the crash. The Nassau County District Attorney is recommending a sentence of seven to 21 years in prison.
