SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ – The Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women successfully organized a school supply donation drive, culminating in approximately 250 backpacks filled with essential supplies for the new academic year. These were distributed through the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.
Key community figures participated in the backpack-filling event, including Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Karissa Hahn, Treasurer of the Commission on the Status of Women Patti O’Byrne, County Commissioner Sara Sooy, and Commission Chair Karen Thomas. Also present were Community Policing & Public Affairs Coordinator William Schievella, Commissioner Paul M. Drake, Commissioner Deputy Director Doug Singleterry, Sgt. Adrian Romero, and Sheriff Darrin J. Russo.
The initiative drew support from various residents and organizations across Somerset County, reflecting a collective effort to ensure that students are well-equipped for the upcoming school year.
