SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Maeweather are leading an ongoing investigation into two separate double fatal motor vehicle crashes in Manville and Franklin Township.
Last Friday, Manville Police responded to a three-car crash at the intersection of Main Street and Dukes Parkway East. A 75-year-old female Manville resident and a 52-year-old male from East Newark were pronounced dead after being transported to area hospitals.
The investigation shows that the 75-year-old driver disregarded a red traffic signal and collided with the 52-year-old male’s vehicle. The impact led to a third collision with a 74-year-old Manville resident, who sustained minor injuries.
On Sunday morning, Franklin Township Police responded to a single-car crash on Somerset Street. A 29-year-old male Somerset resident was transported to an area trauma center with undisclosed injuries. Two passengers in the car suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention.
Members of the public with information relevant to these investigations are asked to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office at 301-516-2512.
