Cambridge, MD – Cambridge Police Department officers responded to a disturbance call last night that escalated into a barricade situation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

Upon arrival at an East Applebee Ave address, officers interviewed a female victim who reported a physical altercation with Andrew Scott Malinowski, 31, of Cambridge, MD. The victim stated Malinowski forcibly grabbed her and damaged her cellphone.

He also allegedly pointed a long gun at her and later threatened to take his own life with the firearm.

Officers proceeded to Malinowski’s residence on Race St, where they found his vehicle in the driveway but received no response from inside the house. Given the serious nature of the allegations, a perimeter was established around the residence.

Multiple attempts to contact Malinowski using an intercom system were unsuccessful. Additional units, including detectives and a negotiator from Cambridge Police Department, were deployed to the scene. SWAT teams from Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, Easton Police Department, Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff, and Maryland Natural Resources Police Department also assisted.

Cambridge Police Detectives obtained a Search and Seizure Warrant for the residence and a Felony Warrant for Malinowski’s arrest was issued. After an extended standoff, Malinowski was taken into custody. Charges are pending.
