EVESHAM, NJ – A suspect has been arrested in connection to a series of suspicious fires occurring within the same vicinity in Evesham.
On August 20, patrol officers and Evesham Fire Personnel responded to a residential fire at the 100 block of Aspen Court, finding the dwelling fully engulfed in flames. The dwelling was deemed a complete loss, and neighboring homes also sustained damage.
The next day, on August 21, patrol officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Empress Street for another residential fire. The homeowner managed to extinguish the flames, resulting in minor damage.
Preliminary investigations by the Evesham Investigative Bureau, Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, and Evesham Fire Department determined both fires to be suspicious in nature.
During the investigation, a suspect was located by patrol officers on August 23, near the vicinity of the fires. The suspect, identified as Colin J. DeLuca, a 30-year-old male from Little Egg Harbor, was detained.
Following an extensive investigation, probable cause was found to arrest and charge DeLuca with starting the fire on Empress Court. Further investigation regarding the Aspen Court fire is ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
