SADDLE BROOK, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella has announced the arrest of Victor Morales, a lab technician from Saddle Brook, New Jersey, on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated assault.
The arrest followed an investigation led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under Chief Jason Love, as well as the Saddle Brook Police Department under Officer in Charge Captain John A. Zotollo Jr.
The Saddle Brook Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit on Tuesday, reporting an incident of child abuse. Subsequent investigations revealed that Morales physically assaulted a child under the age of 13 years who was in his care.
On the same day, Morales was arrested in Paramus, New Jersey. He was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree aggravated assault. Morales is currently held at the Bergen County Jail, awaiting his first court appearance at the Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Prosecutor Musella emphasized that the charges are merely accusations at this stage and that Morales is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. He also expressed gratitude to the Saddle Brook Police Department for their assistance in this sensitive investigation.
