MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Members of the Manchester Township Police Department and Volunteer Department were called to a Cypress St. residence at approximately 7 am on Sunday following a report of a structure fire.

Smoke was seen coming from the rear of the quad-unit building. Fire departments managed to contain the damage to the kitchen area, but the home sustained significant fire and water damage to the rear. The building’s quad-unit design allowed smoke to travel into the other three units.

Occupants of three residences were evacuated, and the fourth was found unoccupied.

Residents were not injured, and two cats were safely removed from an adjacent unit.

The fire is believed to be accidental, according to a preliminary investigation.
