BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A 53-year-old Baltimore County man, who works on trucks and plays the Lottery every day, recently won the $50,000 Pick 5 top prize. He credits his memory for the win after recalling an old street address to pick his numbers.
The winner had been playing an original Pick 5 combination that hadn’t been winning. While in the store to buy his daily tickets, he was contemplating trying a new number when he overheard a woman say she used her old street address for her tickets.
“I heard a woman in line ahead of me say that she used her old street address for her tickets. That sounded like a good idea,” he explained. However, he couldn’t remember his previous address, as he hadn’t lived there in many years. At the last moment, though, his memory came through for him with the numbers 23504.
He learned of his $50,000 win soon after the evening drawing on August 10 by checking the Lottery’s website. “I was very surprised. I thought about my decision to change numbers and that lady in line. It really was hard to believe,” he stated.
Since his big win, he has added a new constant to his daily routine—Red Sea Petroleum, the gas station that sold his lucky Pick 5 ticket. Located at 101 W. Patapsco Avenue, the retailer received a $500 bonus for its role in the $50,000 transaction.
