MANHATTAN, NY – Zaquan Gaillard, 34, has been sentenced to 7.5 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of firearm trafficking from North Carolina to New York City between December 2021 and June 2022.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., disclosed the sentencing details. Gaillard was charged with Criminal Sale of a Firearm in both the First and Second Degree.
Gaillard obtained firearms both directly from suppliers in North Carolina and personally from pawnshops in South Carolina.
Intercepted conversations revealed he even failed a background check in South Carolina once. Gaillard typically sold the weapons for double his purchase price.
Most transactions took place in Manhattan in broad daylight. Eight recovered weapons were identified as models frequently used in NYC gun crimes.
