HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, Mercer County – The New Jersey State Police have arrested and charged Dandre L. McDaniels Jr., 23, of Trenton, N.J., with murder and other offenses relating to the fatal stabbing and striking of a woman at the Woodrow Wilson Service Area employee parking lot in Hamilton Township.
In the early hours of Thursday, August 17, troopers were summoned to the scene after receiving a report of a woman lying on the ground.
The victim, identified as 22-year-old Jamyra C. Odom, also of Trenton, was found with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the site.
Detectives from the Major Crime South Unit and Troop “D” Criminal Investigation Office conducted a thorough investigation, piecing together a sequence of events and identifying a white sport utility vehicle (SUV) as potentially linked to the crime.
The white SUV was subsequently discovered parked in front of Capital Health Systems Fuld Campus in Trenton. McDaniels Jr. was found inside the emergency room receiving treatment for lacerations to his hands.
It is alleged that McDaniels Jr. drove to the SUV in the Woodrow Wilson Service Area parking lot and attacked Odom with a knife multiple times after leaving her shift at the service area Burger King. He then allegedly struck her with the vehicle as he left the scene.
