One Life Claimed In Asbury Park Shooting

ASBURY PARK, NJ- Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago has announced an ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred in Asbury Park last week. The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Derek L. Bussey from Asbury Park.

The incident took place shortly after 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9. Officers from the Asbury Park Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at a location on Atkins Avenue, between Adams Street and Boston Way. At the scene, they discovered Bussey, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Bussey was swiftly transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after midnight on Thursday, August 10.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Bureau, in conjunction with the Asbury Park Police Department, is actively conducting a joint investigation into the matter.
